Plans to hire an architect to design the new Joint Belleville-Hastings County archives facility have been put on hold.
It was the plan to hire an archivist for the joint facility that got stuck at belleville city council for a few weeks, but officials are now pouring over a number of applicants for that position. Since the hiring of an architect is on hold, Councillor Garnet Thompson says, in-house staff will do some initial design work, then an architect may be hired in the fall to complete the work. Meanwhile, Thompson says, the “archivist” for the facility will be hired by the end of May.
