Media reports have brought to light disturbing concerns about racism in Ontario colleges and universities.
However, the Vice President of Student Services at Loyalist College, George Burton, is happy to report that incidents of outright racism have NOT been at issue at the Belleville campus.
Burton says Loyalist details a ‘student code of conduct” every year, and offers ongoing seminars on proper conduct and behaviour, focussing on the importance of valuing individual differences.
Next year, Loyalist College will offer students and staff, a “respect” campaign.
