Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis still believes the city is a safe place to live, despite two more shootings and a spate of murders around the Quinte Region over the past few months.
The area, where murders are rare, has been rocked by a series of homicides over the past year, including five since January first.
Ellis says everyone in Quinte is affected no matter where serious crime occurs, but he still feels the city is safe.. Belleville Police went to a house on Victoria Avenue at 3-30 this morning, where two men had been shot. One is at Belleville Hospital, and the other was transferred to Kingston General. Police wouldn’t confirm information our newsroom received that a 21-year-old man was in custody.
