A Belleville man hightailing it out West to avoid charges in his hometown has been sentenced in Sault Sainte Marie.
Twenty-five-year-old John Kort pleaded guilty in court to driving while disqualified, obstructing police, possession of marijuana and breach of probation. He has been in custody since being stopped on February seventh near White River. He was sentenced to another 36 days in jail, and is prohibited from driving for three years.
The O-P-P pulled over Kort’s vehicle speeding on Highway 17, and Kort gave a false name and admitted he had seven grams of marijuana in his jacket.
