The recently formed Family Enhancement Team with the Hastings Children’s Aid Society is doing its job. The Hastings CAS Board of Directors saw statistics showing that 14 children were able to return to their homes because of the Family Enhancement Team’s counselling. The team’s members intervene in a potentially bad home environment quickly, and work with children, and other family members to stabilize the situation. Had the 14 kids stayed in the care of Children’s Aid, it would have cost the taxpayer almost 600 thousand dollars if they had to stay in care for a year.
