A new proposed subdivision in Belleville’s east end could put traffic pressure on existing residential streets. Councillor Jack Miller has questioned if Oakridges Street would get heavier traffic when Mercedes Subdivision is built just off the end Haig Road. Director of Development Rod Bovay says the city has an area development charges bylaw for the area, which would pay for the extension of Haig Road north to meet a Station Street extension eastward. Bovay says the five year capital projects plan calls for those major streets to be extended in 2013. But he says council could move this date up if there are traffic issues.
