Belleville City Council has put its support behind keeping the Kinsmen pool open…for another two years at least. At last night’s meeting council recognized the the Kinsmen Club’s service to the community in keeping the pool on Dundas Street open for the public the past 62 years. With the Kinsmen giving up the pool, the city has given pre-budget approval of 60-thousand dollars for the pool this year. Director of Recreation Mark Fluhrer says Kinsmen pool will stay open at least until the new multiplex gets into operation, twoyears from now. Fluhrer says his department would then look carefully at how the community could use the facility, before any recommendation would be made to close it down.
