Belleville has given the green light to a two-building Avalon hotel on North Front street, despite objections from two sources. Last night Susan Palmer of North Park Street told council the five-storey hotel building, and the cutting of trees in the area would spoil the privacy of their home. Palmer supported a call by Holiday Inn Express for a third party sewage capacity study. A spokesman for the Avalon indicated trees and berms are planned to provide privacy. The city had been assured by a consultant’s study that there is enough sewage capacity for the project. Council approved the rezoning of a number of adjacent residental properties to accommodate the hotel plans.
