Operations at the Rancor Wood Recyling facility on Tank Farm Road in Belleville have been temporarily suspended.
Ministry of the Environment Official Kate Jordan says there is too much material at the site, violating a condition of the certificate of approval, and the ministry expects the company will take action to resolve the problem.
She didn’t know how much material the certificate of approval would allow at Rancor, and how much the recycling centre was over the limit. An unconfirmed report says some of the employees were laid off after they arrived at work this morning.
