The Prince Edward County Police Service Board says a decision will have to be made on how to pay for four or five proposed security cameras in downtown Picton before the equipment is ordered.
Inspector Earl Johns of the Quinte West O-P-P and a representative of the company that installed cameras in Trenton and Frankford were at yesterday’s board meeting. Reconciled contract policing costs in Quinte West are distributed as the city’s police board directs, but Prince Edward Board chair Robert Quaiff says the costs go back directly to the county to offset the cost of policing. Discussions will likely be held with the Picton Business Improvement Area and the Chamber of Tourism and Commerce about the best spots for those cameras.
