Defence Minister Peter MacKay has made his first comments about the charges of murder and sexual assault against Colonel Russ Williams. He says was “shocked” when he first heard the news, and his thoughts immediately went out to the families of the victims, adding they are the most serious of crimes in Canada. MacKay called it a “very emotional time” particularly for the families of the victims. The Defence Minister says the Canadian Forces are co-operating “fully with the investigation,” and he is concerned with ensuring the troops are supported.
