As police field calls from police agencies about former C-F-B Trenton Commander Colonel Russ Williams, a former senior F-B-I profiler says police looking at cold cases should hone in on lesser, precursor crimes.
Former F-B-I profiler Mark Safarik, who’s based in Virginia, says it’s unusual to see someone his age arrested for sensational crimes with no prior record. Safarik says in general, violent sex crimes begin with lesser crimes such as burglary, then escalate.
He says police looking at cold cases following Williams’ arrest will examine homicides and sex crimes, but adds they should also look at unsolved break-ins.
