Christmas was nearly three weeks ago but according to one resident in a new subdivision just north of the 4-0-1…..Belleville Public Works is still playing grinch. The woman who lives in Canniff Mills Estates says Christmas trees are still sitting at the end of dozens of driveways in her subdivision as well as Deerfield Park and Settler’s Ridge waiting for pickup and disposal. She says she’s paying upwards of 4-thousand dollars a year in taxes but was told by Public Works that because she lives in Thurlow her tree wouldn’t be picked up and she should bring it to the Public Works yard on North Park Street for disposal. Another resident says people are throwing their trees in the ditch and eventually someone will pick them up. The city website says trees west of the Moira River would be picked up last Thursday….but only in Belleville Ward.
