Peterborough County OPP say they’ve uncovered a new credit card scam that’s active locally.
The scam involves a caller phoning you and ultimately asking you to provide the last three digits of the security code printed on the back of your VISA or Mastercard.
The scammers convince their victims to give away this number by claiming to the the victim that their credit card is under investigation for fraud.
Police say a real fraud investigator would already have all of your credit card information and this scam is not to be believed.
Police are urging people to be aware of this scam and notify their local police service of anything suspicious.
