The Ontario Court of Appeal has rejected a Bloomfield-area woman’s request for a leave to appeal the seizure of 22 dogs from her home.
Justice J-A Sharpe handed down his decision yesterday, only five days after Paula Deininger argued six dogs taken from her Wilson Road home in July and 16 more seized on October 15th should be returned.
The animals were seized by Prince Edward County Animal Control officers after they got complaints about the number of dogs on the property, well beyond the limit of three for anyone without a kennel licence. Deininger will also have to find new homes for about 60 ducks, geese, chickens and rabbits running loose outside the house.
