Prince Charles says he and his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, are moved by Canadians’ patriotism and pride in their military. He says it’s particularly poignant that Canadians line the so-called Highway of Heroes from C-F-B Trenton to Toronto when soldiers’ remains are repatriated. As a father of two serving military officers, the Prince of Wales says he appreciates the “appalling emotional strain and anxiety” on military families. Charles made his comments after bestowing new colours on two regiments during a ceremony in Toronto.
