The aunt of a boy accused of killing a Warkworth woman has told a Peterborough Court the youth and the victim were incredibly close during the boy’s younger years.
The 16-year-old is charged with the first-degree murder of 33-year-old Michelle Barnoski, whose body was found buried in her backyard in June, 2008, two weeks after she was reported missing.
The aunt’s testimony, which included referring to a conversation she had with the youth just after he claimed he and the woman had a big fight, came yesterday on the second day of the trial, which is expected to last four to six weeks.
Barnoski’s ex-husband, Marc Vickers of Warkworth, also charged with first degree murder, will be tried separately.
