Brighton Council’s Growth Management Committee doesn’t want Brighton Public School for municipal use.
Mayor Chris Herrington says the committee made that decision after learning the cost of reconstructing the school, after a new Brighton Public School it built at the same site, would be eight million dollars..
The committee will ask the building owner, the Kawartha-Pine Ridge School Board, to use some of the architectural features of the current school in the new building.
The school at one time was being considered for use as a library, but the library board asked not to be included.
