Belleville has rejected a staff recommendation that it hire a Kingston area company for its animal control. Frontenanc Municipal Law Enforcement cost more but proposed a system of door to door dog tag sales that it said would raise money for the city. Councillor Jack Miller was one of a number of councillors concerned about the money angle. Miller says the revenue couldn’t be guaranteed but the higher cost would be. He said the city couldn’t take a chance on that. In the end the city decided to renew its contract with a local company, Pierce Animal Control.
