Life has finally returned to normal at Warkworth Institution, almost three months after a riot.
The medium-security prison was placed in lockdown, suspending most programs for prisoners and visits after inmates protested in the recreation yard and set fires on July 21st.
Assistant Warden Ann Anderson says all the programs have been reinstated over the past six weeks, although some modifications have been made. She says one change reduces the number of prisoners who are out of their cells at one time, although she wouldn’t comment on how many that would be.
Investigations are still underway into the cause of the demonstration, and the death of an inmate during the incident.
