A convoy of trucks carried the new Tyendinaga Mohawk Police station close to it’s location yesterday, but just as on 2 previous attempts, the convoy turned around, and drove away, still carrying its load. Protestors were again successful in blocking the pre fab building from being installed on its pad on York Road, and the building’s whereabouts this morning aren’t being released. Few details are known, but Tyendinaga Police Chief Ron Maracle says there was verbal abuse, but no violence, or injury. In related news, a new chlorination system will be up and running at the Quinte Mohawk School, next door to the new police station site, and the chief says the issue of the building will be addressed once the system is installed. Protestors have said that the money spent on the station would have been better used on fixing water quality.
