The tension surrounding the issue of a new police station on the Tyendinaga Reserve has forced the closure of the nearby school.
Quinte Mohawk School on York Road is only a short distance from the site where protestors forced a convoy of trucks, carrying the prefab building, to turn back yesterday.
School Principal Kathleen Manderville says the safety of students is important, and a decision on whether the school will reopen on Tuesday will be made by that morning..
Mohawk bus lines, carrying Tyendinaga students to high schools in Belleville, is running those buses today.
