A little positive news about the local unemployment rate.
Statistics Canada says the figure for Hastings, Prince Edward, Lennox and Addington, Frontenac and Renfrew counties last month was 8.7 per cent, compared to 8.8 in August.
Twenty-point-four-thousand jobless people were looking for work in September, down by two hundred from the previous month.
It is the first time in a number of months the unemployment rate has gone down. The local unemployment rate in September, 2008, was 6.4 per cent.
