A terrifying few moments for three children….two of them stepping off a school bus in Thurlow yesterday. The two boys and a girl suffered broken bones and head injuries….one of them….an 11-year old boy was sent to Kingston General….after stepping off the bus and being run down by an out of control car at Willet and Bethel Roads. Belleville Police continue to investigate the accident which closed the road until 10 o’clock last night….and say it could be a week before any charges are laid. It appears a tan colored Nissan Altima veered around a Volkswagon that had stopped for the bus on the wet road and hit the children. The 3-year old boy was waiting at the end of his driverway with a parent and was hit.
Meanwhile, City Police are investigating after a pickup truck hit a cyclist on the west-hill last evening. The pickup driver failed to remain at the scen at Bridge West and Dunbar Streets but was later located. The teenage cyclist was taken to BGH and treated for minor injuries. If you witnessed the accident you’re asked to contact police or crimestoppers.
