The Mayor of Prince Edward County, the site of about a half dozen proposed wind energy projects, doesn’t think new rules for wind turbines will have a serious effect on their development.
New windmills in the province will have to be at least 550 metres away from the nearest homes under green energy act regulations.
Mayor Leo Finnegan says County Council is willing to cooperate with developers, but turbines shouldn’t be everywhere, especially where people object to them.
He says council also doesn’t want windmills scattered along the county’s 500 miles of shoreline.
