A company from north of Toronto has been convicted of operating a quarry near Havelock without a licence.
Dunkerron Nurseries of Schomberg was fined 25-and-a-half-thousand dollars in Peterborough Court.
The court was told a Ministry of Natural Resources Conservation Officer found Dunkerron had removed and used a large quantity of limestone from the pit, on Hubble Road, while the official was acting on a complaint from a member of the public last November.
Anyone wishing to extract aggregate must, under the Aggregate Resources Act, get a licence from the Ministry of Natural Resources.
