A warning from the group taking Prince Edward County Council to the Ontario Municipal Board about the cost to the municipality.
The Electors for Restructuring Wards and Council claim the county’s non-response to a suggestion two weeks ago to negotiate a settlement will push Prince Edward’s legal expenses well beyond the original thirty-thousand dollars.
The Electors wants ward boundaries changed as soon as possible, so they can be in place for the next municipal election a year from now, but council prefers to hold a referendum on the issue when voters go to the polls.
An O-M-B pre-hearing was held on August 17th, and a full hearing is scheduled for mid-November.
