Telephone and drive-by harrassment by young men has brought a petition agaInst a proposed strip bar on Belleville’s Station street to an abrupt end. Last week Jim Hillier launched a petition against the city’s decison to re-instate the adult entertainment zoning for the former Doc’s Palace. Hillier set up at the site on the weekendf to collect names. But he said car loads of young men harrassed him, calling him names, even throwing a beer bottle at him. Hillier, a father of two, said that after many abusive and obscene phone calls he has dropped the peittion and urges people to register objections with their councillors. A staff report on the zoning comes to city council in September.
