Quinte West City Council will be asked to decide what to do with money left over because of a lower than expected tender for paving work in the city.
Public Works Director Chris Angelo says the city budgeted three-million dollars for new asphalt on Dundas Street West, Trenton-Frankford Road, Wooler Road and Colonial Road.
However, the lowest tender came in at 2.1-million dollars, and the contract was awarded to Norway Paving of Norwood.
Angelo says he will ask city council if it wants to spend the other 900-thousand on extending the paving projects on the four routes, or paying down the debt on the new Smithfield overhead bridge.
