A ten-day Ontario Muncipal Board hearing will be held this fall if mediation doesn’t resolve an appeal over the number of wards in Prince Edward County.
The County and “The Electors of Prince Edward County” group were both represented when an O-M-B pre-hearing conference was held at Shire Hall in Picton on Monday.
The Electors filed the appeal with the Board this summer after County Council decided to postpone any decision on reducing the number of wards from ten until after a referendum on the issue in next year’s municipal election.
Prince Edward Clerk Victoria Leskie says the O-M-B hearing is scheduled for the weeks of November 16th and 23rd, unless both sides reach an agreement during mediation, which could be held in mid-September.
