Two controversial trees in downtown Trenton are going.
Quinte West Public Works Director Chris Angelo met with concerned citizens and downtown merchants yesterday to discuss the proposed removal of the Norway maples during the reconstruction of Quinte Street.
He says they all agreed the trees, near the Trentonian building, wouldn’t survive if they were left, because their root structures go out under the street..
New trees will be planted, after the one-million-dollar street project ends this september, to replace the ones taken down. Two other maple trees on Quinte Street were uprooted earlier this week during the reconstruction.
