After almost a year of talking about it…officials promise a decision on the future of policing Stirling-Rawdon will be made in the next month. The OPP costing for the municipal service was presented at last night’s council meeting and Mayor Peter Kooistra says the public will be engaged in the next few weeks to assist council in making a decision… either through a mailout or a public meeting. A stand alone OPP detachment with 15-staff would cost rougly 2.2 million dollars. Integrating with Central Hastings with 7-officers would cost 883-thousand dollars. The current force of 10-officers currently costs 1.35 million.
