The rain in Quinte not only broke, but washed away the July 23rd record..
An official at C-F-B Trenton’s Weather Office say the 52 millimetres dumped during heavy showers and thunderstorms yesterday easily topped the previous record.
That was 21.6 millimetres on July 23rd, 1995. However, as wet as it was yesterday, it didn’t beat the July rainfall record of 70 millimetres, set on July 16th, 1951.
The heavy rain and strong winds knocked down tree limbs and left pools of water around blocked catch basins on streets around the region.
