A Belleville woman has been ordered to return to Brazil, 22 years after being taken out of that country by an adoption agency.
Thirty-four-year-old Fatima Desrosiers’ application to extend her temporary permit was refused by Immigration officials because she has failed to support herself financially as an adult, and due to her lengthy criminal record.
She came to Toronto in 1987 at the age of 12, but her prospective new mother yelled at her, and ordered her, at knifepoint, to leave.
She spent years after that bouncing from foster home to group home, and has been convicted of theft, drug trafficking, prostitution, and assault, meaning she can’t get landed status.
