Belleville City Council has officially given the green light to the 882-thousand dollar Zwick’s Island Park Pavilion project. It’s expected to be ready for Canada Day next year. Chair of the Pavilion Committee, Ken Stapely says the structure at Zwicks will accommodate more than just Canada Day or the Waterfront Festival. Stapely says he’d like to see “Shakespeare in the Park, maybe even become the “Stratford of the east.” The community committee and the city are splitting just under 300-thousand dollars of the cost, with the provincial and federal governments paying the rest.
