Prince Edward County’s Planning Committee, and Council itself, has approved a policy on wineries.
Basically, the policy would break wineries into two types,a farm winery, and a larger, estate winery.
Farm wineries would be required to have a minimum of 4 thousand vines, and they would have to have at least 51 percent of their own grapes used in any wine making.
Estate wineries would need a minimum of 16 thousand vines, and wouldn’t have any restrictions on local grape content.
Farm wineries would not be allowed to have restaurants, or banquet facilities.
