It may not be easy to get Ontario’s corrections workers, including those at the Quinte Detention Centre in Napanee, to accept their new tentative agreement.
The deal between the province and OPSEU, representing 55-hundred employees, was announced on Sunday, but many of them are making it clear they’re opposed to it..
The offer includes wage increases of 9.75 per cent over four years for correctional officers, youth workers and probation officers, and 8.75 per cent for other corrections workers.
It also introduces lump-sum bonuses if workers meet targets in reducing their sick time, which was a major point of contention during negotiations.
