A retired Belleville dental surgeon and his wife are back in Canada after a harrowing ordeal in Thailand.
William and Carol Thompson were among 38 Canadian seniors who arrived in Toronto last night after an anti-government protest closed the Bangkok airport for more than a week.
William says they were stuck at a hotel, and not at the airport, but he was concerned the protest would spread through the city.
Some Canadian tourists were critical of embassy staffers in Bangkok, but the Thompsons praised Canadian diplomats in Hong Kong, who provided support from the consul general.
