Crooks have been on the phone in Quinte area, pretending to sell extended warranties on vehicles, but really aiming to get peoples’ credit card numbers.
Belleville Police Sgt, Beth Harder says the callers are persistent, and that people should never give their personal information out over the phone to people they don’t know.
In other areas of the province, the scam features a flyer advertising extended vehicle warranties, and follow-up phone calls.
