Quinte Greek 'OPA' Festival

The inaugural, Quinte Greek OPA Festival is being held on Saturday, September 6th from 11:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. The festival is going to be a celebration of Greek culture, featuring live music, dancing, food, drink and children's activities, with all profits going to support the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. The event is going to be held outdoors, in the parking lot of The Greek Banquet Hall, at 70 Harder Drive in Belleville. Parking will be held at Centennial Secondary School, Mary Ann Sills Park, and other nearby parking lots. We will be having a bus available to shuttle people from the parking lots to the The Greek Banquet Hall.

The 5th Annual Kingston Multicultural Arts Festival

The 5th Annual Kingston Multicultural Arts Festival is coming back to Confederation Park on Sunday, September 7th, 11:30am-5:30pm.

This year's festival, organized by the Kingston multicultural community, will feature over 12 live music and dance performances, local artists workshops and demonstrations, children's activities, cultural pavilions and the new participation of two restaurants.

Hunter Information Night

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has partnered with the Belleville Fish and Game Club to offer a free Hunter Information night. The meeting is open to everyone and will take place on September 11 at the Belleville Fish and Game Club, 170 Elmwood Drive in Belleville. Presentations begin at 7pm (doors open at 6pm). Guest speakers will cover the following topics: an overview of the hunting regulations in Ontario, hunting incidents and prevention, Firearm Act requirements, and a review of the Small Vessel Regulations. Enforcement staff from MNRF and policing agencies will be available to answer questions. Seating is limited to 300 people.

BQYC particpating in Bart's Bash

The Bay of Quinte Yacht Club is a participating club in an attempt to set a world record on Sunday September 21.

The Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation is organizing a monster sized attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for ‘The Largest Sailing Race in The World (Multiple locations over 24 hours)’, which we are calling ‘Bart’s Bash.

BQYC is required to have 25 sailing boats Racing on the Water Sunday afternoon to become an official participant.The club is scheduling both Keel Boats and dinghy's to be racing Sunday Afternoon to assist in meeting our requirement of 25 boats.

Annual festival for readers, writers and book lovers, Kingston WritersFest (September 24 to 28) brings some 60 authors to Kingston, including Eleanor Catton, Wally Lamb, Heather O'Neill, Shani Mootoo, Susan Musgrave, Stephen Reid, Deborah Ellis, Cecil Foster, Charles Foran, Aislinn Hunter, Eric Walters, Paula Todd, Lynn Thomson, Miriam Toews, Steven Galloway, and Melanie Dugan.

The festival, which takes place at the Holiday Inn Kingston Waterfront, opens with the internationally acclaimed best-selling author of She's Come Undone and We Are Water, Wally Lamb, who will take the stage at the Grand Theatre. Raising awareness about the issues that cause population declines in salamanders is important as these creatures are very beneficial to the environment, and to humans.

Salamanders are extremely valuable components to natural Eco-systems. Salamanders are often found in both tropical and temperate forests. Here they are components to the natural communities that help keep rainforests and woodlands healthy.
