When Sears closes its doors for good in Belleville, they don’t want to leave their over 600 associates standing out in the cold.
The city hosted a job fair in the cafeteria of the Belleville warehouse Wednesday.
There were 59 potential employers present with over 900 jobs available.
Jeff Abbott, the Vice-President, Supply Chain and Logistics for Sears Canada says the job fair was paramount for the employees.
Karen Poste, the Manager of Economic Development for the City of Belleville, says the job fair was well received and there was a steady flow of Sears associates throughout the day.
She told Quinte News that the City wanted to put this job fair together to help make the best of a bad situation.
The job fair was open to only Sears employees.
Abbott wanted to thank Poste and the city for putting the job fair together and says it was important to get Belleville residents here in the city.
