A pedestrian has been taken to hospital following a collision with a motor vehicle early this morning.
At around 1 a.m., Belleville Police, ambulance and fire were all on scene in the area of Dundas Street West and James Street, near the Petro Canada gas station.
The 29 year old Toronto area man was taken to Belleville General Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the motor vehicle, a 44 year old man from Tyendinaga Township, was arrested at the scene for a drinking and driving offence. Alcohol was deemed a factor in the collision.
Dundas Street West was closed between James Street and Bay Bridge Road and is expected to be closed for several more hours.
The investigation is ongoing.
