OPP SEARCHING FOR 2 WANTED MEN IN RELATION TO TRENTON HOMICIDE

SUSPECTS ARMED AND DANGEROUS.

The Quinte West OPP with the assistance of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch is investigating the shooting death of a 35 year old Trenton woman which occurred during the evening of February 27 in Trenton.The OPP is searching for 2 suspects who are considered armed anddangerous in relation to this active investigation. Photos of the suspects are attached. Wanted for murder are:

1) Jason Tyler FROST, age 30 of no fixed address. Frost is described as a white male, 5’8″ tall, approximately 180lbs, with a brownbeard, short dark hair with a bald spot and a missing upper front tooth.

2) Michael Wallace GARNISS, age 49 of no fixed address.GARNISS is described as a white male, 6’1″ tall, approximately 200lbs,with dark long hair. He has a tear drop tattoo under his right eye and walks with a limp.

The suspects may be driving a dark coloured pick-up truck with a whitecap. Both suspects are considered armed and dangerous and are considered a risk to public safety. Anyone who may know of the where abouts of these 2 wanted suspects or who may come into contact with them should not approach them and contact the police as soon as possible by calling 9-1-1.


Kingston Inmate Captured

Mark Aubertin who had escaped from Kingston Pen has been caught.

Hamilton Police arrested Aubertin around 2 am Sunday morning without incident.

Aubertin had left the minimum security Pittsburgh Institution in Kingston on Feb 9.

He is charged with escape of lawful custody.


Arrests in Convenience Store Robbery

Two arrests have been made in the robbery of a convenience store on College Street West Friday morning.

A 21-year-old man and a 19-year-old man were tracked by the canine unit to the Yeoman and Union Street area.

The two have been released.


Police Looking for Assistance

Quinte West OPP are still looking for the publics assistance in tracking down a hit-and-run driver in Trenton.

Police are looking for a driver in a military uniform who was behind the wheel a burgundy truck that hit a 14-year-old girl. The girl was crossing a crosswalk downtown Friday night around mid night. The girl suffered minor injuries.


Possible Shooting in Trenton

Calls to the newsroom have reported a possible shooting in Trenton. Around 8:30 last night neighbours on Sydney Street heard a gunshot come from a home. According to the neighbours the house is currently taped off and the forensics unit is investigating. Police have not confirmed and will not release any information at this time.


Snowmobile Fell Through the Ice

A snowmobile has fallen through the ice around 5 this morning. OPP are on scene. One person is out of the water on shore while last we heard another was still in the water. No more information at this time.


“There’s no place like Prince Edward County”

Ontario is running a television commercial during the Olympics that features Prince Edward County tourism attractions. The “There’s No Place Like This” commercial promotes local attractions such as Sandbanks Provincial Park, Waupoos Estates Winery, Bloomfield, and Waupoos Apple Orchard.

MPP for Prince Edward-Hastings Leona Dombrowsky says  “It’s great our local attractions are getting national exposure during such a high profile event like the Olympics.”

The commercial is being aired on national and Ontario TV, on networks such as CTV National, CTV Ontario, TSN and Rogers Sportsnet. It was launched on February 12 for a three-week run for the duration of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.


Hit ‘n’ Run

A 14 year-old Trenton girl was walking on Dundas Street West last evening around midnight when she was hit crossing the crosswalk by Centre Theatre. The girl fell to the ground while the truck continued southbound on Division Street. Police say it was a burgundy red truck with a cap on it.. being driven by a man in military uniform.  The girl received minor injures but Quinte West OPP would like the public’s assistance in locating this vehicle.


Hefty Theft

Hefty Theft on Yeoman Street this week..

Belleville police say the victim reported that sometime late Tuesday night, early Wednesday morning someone removed his gate and chopped off the lock. The mans red 2008 suzuki king quad ATV with attached marker, 70PE4 valued at 75 hundred dollars and a chainsaw were stolen . If anyone has any information they are asked to contact police.


Bye, Bye, Ice Huts

All good things come to an end.. including ice fishing.

The The Ministry of Natural Resources would like to remind anyone who still has ice huts on the Bay of Quinte that they must have them removed from the ice by Monday, March 1st.

Any individual who leaves their permanent ice hut on the ice beyond March 1st is considered to be in violation of the Ontario Fishing Regulations and may be charged.
