POWELL, Russell … passed away suddenly in his home at Island Park Retirement Residence on Sunday, February 16th, 2025 at the age of 90 years. Russell was and will always be remembered by the love of his life and best friend Maureen (nee McIlroy). His children; the late Rick, Patti (Wilf), the late Colleen, Kelly (Ed) and grandchildren; Jamie (Laura), Allison (Tim), Janelle, Daniel (Kyle), Bryce, Jade (Travis), great grandchildren; Brandon and Alivia, brought immense joy to Russell’s life and they will forever cherish all the memories made over the years with him.
Russell was a dedicated retiree from General Motors, where he devoted many years of his life. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Russell had a profound love of horses and was actively involved in many roles in Standardbred Racing including his work as a farrier. He was also known for his joyful singing and love of music. That spirit will be deeply missed. Russell leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, passion and humour that will continue to live on in all who knew him. A Celebration Of Life will be held at a later date.
