It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden passing of Norm McMillan on May 26th, 2025, at his home on the Trent River. Norm was a proud and devoted father to Shane McMillan, and the cherished son of the late Ron and Marilyn McMillan. He will be deeply missed by his siblings Gord (Pauline), Jill (Mark), and Sandra (Charles), and fondly remembered as “Uncle Nono” to his many adored nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He shared a special bond with his Aunt Frannie McMillan, living side-by-side for many years on the Trent River, where family and friendship were always close at hand. Norm lived for life’s simple pleasures, had a memorable sense of humour, and a contagious smile. He will be remembered for his unwavering love of family, friends, animals (of all kinds), and his lifelong loyalty to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Whether snowmobiling, four wheeling, fishing, or hunting, Norm found joy in the great outdoors – especially at Camp 58 The Steanberg and Southfork. Norm often reflected on his days playing Campbellford Minor Hockey, where he celebrated ‘All Ontario Championships’ and, more importantly, made many of the lifelong friends who remained by his side through the years. Above all else, Norm’s heart belonged to his son, Shane. Through all of life’s highs and lows, Shane was his constant – the one he was most proud of and the greatest source of his happiness. He lit up whenever he spoke about him, and it was clear to everyone who knew Norm that being Shane’s dad was the role he cherished the most. A private graveside service will be held at Centre Cemetery (Trent Hills) on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. Following the interment family are welcoming all to a Celebration of Life at Gord and Pauline McMillan’s home, 616-13th Line West, Trent Hills, ON, K0L 1Y0 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, where all are welcome to gather, share stories, and love in memory of Norm.
