Giles, Richard “Rick”
After fiercely battling cancer for 10 years, Rick chose to end his fight with dignity and courage surrounded by his family, on March 19, 2026, at the age of 75.
Survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Gail (nee Powell), cherished children Ashton (Joey) and Russell McIlwaine (Selena) and his brother Donald (the late Judy). He was predeceased by his brother Bob (Mary), his father Earl and his mother Isabella. He will be greatly missed by his extensive family and friends.
Rick was an insurance agent with State Farm Insurance then Desjardin Insurance from 1974 until he retired in 2019. He and Gail spent many weeks cruising and travelling with his brother Don and his wife Judy. Ever the artist, his free time was spent playing his Martin guitar, learning to play his father’s fiddle and mastering the art of water colour.
Thank you to all the wonderful nurses with Bayshore Home Care Solutions, the staff at Hospice Prince Edward and our amazing doctor Dr. Helene Baldwin of Picton.
