Madelayne Diane Rollins, born May 1st, 1927 at home in North Fredericksburg, Ontario passed away peacefully at Trent Valley Lodge on Tuesday September 17th, 2025. Daughter of Albert & Sara Walsh (nee Thompson). Predeceased by her former spouse John Rollins. Mother of Michael Rollins and Angie Rollins. Mother in law of Peggy Blute-Rollins. Grandmother (Nanna) of Vanessa Watkins (Dan), Chad Rollins (Bonny) and Great Grandmother of Mackenna and Samantha Cook Rollins. Aunt of Peter Rollins (Cathy Halpin), Mark Rollins (deceased), Christine Mills (Dan), John Rollins and Jeffrey Rollins (Becky Broadley).
To most she was known as Mandy and to the people of Bridge Street Retirement (Livita) she was Maddy. She was known for her creativity and artistic abilities, whether it be fine arts both in watercolour and oil painting or in her crafts, which she particularly enjoyed collaging. She was a talented cook always wanting to feed both people and pets. Even if we were having a burger night, our dog would have a gourmet meal. Her pies, especially apple and pecan, would have garnered their own Michelin Stars. Her love of travel took her to many exotic places one which was Greece, whereby her love of fashion and shopping landed her in a predicament. Time escaped her and so did the ship. She had to hire a fishing boat to catch up with her ship which had sailed off without her. She was involved in a variety of clubs and associations, but the ones closest to her heart were the Belleville Artist Association, Red Hat Society and UCW. Many a day she would be out on location with Donna Cameron and Florence Lennox packing a lunch and art supplies out to capture the best of what nature had on display. Fun and follies followed the activities of the Red Hatters whether it was checking out the latest restaurants or participating in one of the many road trips. Her creativity was welcomed at the Bridge Street United Church where she regularly made specialty pieces to sell and help support the church. The family would like to extend their extreme appreciation of the friendly and caring staff at Bridge Street Retirement Home (Livita) where she resided for eleven years. Although mom was only at Trent Valley Lodge for a short time, we thank them for their professionalism and attentive care. A very special thank you to Bonnie Coldham who was devoted to moms wellbeing through her generosity of time, patience and understanding. Who’s routine shopping excursions to keep mom well stocked in fresh produce along with numerous thoughtful gifts certainly brightened moms day. Now, she rests in peace to be remembered for all her good qualities. Arrangements have been trusted to Weaver Family Funeral Home – East Chapel. A private ceremony will take place at Belleville Cemetery. If desired and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Enrichment Centre for Mental Health, Bridge Street United Church or a charity of your choice.
