Passed away peacefully with family by his side on December 3 at Hospice Quinte at the age of 77. Beloved husband and best friend to Linda of 54 years. Wonderfully devoted father to Darryl (Mary-Anne) and Vicki (Kent) Keuninckx. Larry was Papa to his cherished grandchildren Bryan (Maryann), Stuart, Thomas, Andrew, Aiden and Kate; Great Papa to Harrison. Remembered by his siblings Mary (the late Don) Chinnery, John (Gail), Allen (Janice) and his sister-in-law Anne Spickett (the late Robert). Predeceased by his parents John and Ethel Lupenette, and sister Angela Jones. He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews.
Larry was born and raised in Belleville Ontario. He and his two brothers enjoyed playing hockey at an early age. They could also be found hunting and fishing at Crotch Lake (Louie’s) near Ompah. As soon as he was able to drive, Larry developed a passion for fast cars and street racing. This is where he caught the eye of Linda. They quickly fell in love and started an incredible 54-year journey as husband and wife. Together they shared their love of the outdoors and could frequently be found paddling and camping in Algonquin park. Larry had an excellent 28-year career as a firefighter with the city of Belleville, but that is not how Larry defined himself. He took pride in being the best husband, father and friend imaginable. After retirement, Larry and Linda moved to Cashel Lake where the cottage became their forever permanent home. So many blessed memories were made here, and this is where Larry was his happiest. There is nothing that Larry loved more than having his kids and grandkids at the cottage, spending quality time together in a beautiful, peaceful and tranquil place.
Friends are invited to call at the Burke Funeral Home 150 Church Street, Belleville, on Sunday, December 8 from 3 – 5 pm, and Monday, December 9 from 10 – 11 am. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel at 11 am, with reception to follow. Memorial Donations to Hospice Quinte or Canadian Cancer Society in Larry’s name would be appreciated by the family.
