It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Judith Carol Giles on Friday, September 12th, 2025, at the age of 84.
Daughter of the late Gilbert and Daisy Crossen (Upton).
She shared her life with her loving husband of 62 years, Donald Earl Giles, with whom she enjoyed many wonderful memories, including her love of travel, and countless cruises together.
Judith was the devoted mother of Bruce, Ron (Maria), Gary (Lisa), Wayne (Tracey) and the proud grandmother and great-grandmother to many cherished grandchildren. She was also a beloved sister to Tom, Jan, Doug, and Nancy, who will hold her memory close.
A lifelong educator, Judith dedicated her career to teaching blind and low vision children, making an immeasurable difference in the lives of her students and their families. Her passion for accessibility and service extended into her volunteer work with the CNIB, where she transcribed braille and worked closely with those with low vision. She also generously gave her time at the Belleville Public Library, sharing her warmth and kindness with the community she loved.
Judith’s spirit for life was marked by her joy in quilting, her fondness for a good cup of Earl Grey tea, and above all, her deep love for her family. She will be remembered for her unwavering compassion, dedication to service, and the love she poured into those around her.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Laird and the staff of Belleville General Hospital for their care and kindness.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CNIB in Judith’s memory.
Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the many lives of those she touched.
Visitation will be held at the Burke Funeral Home, 150 Church Street, Belleville at a later date.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Memorial for Judith has been postponed.
