John (Jack) Ward Beswick died in Madoc on April 12,2025. He was predeceased by his wife of more than 65 years, Rita Ann Beswick on April 12, 2019.
He was born in Montreal, Qc. Dec 28, 1930. Jack joined the Royal Canadian Airforce in 1950 and was posted to Summerside PEI. where he met his wife Rita, and they were married Jan 29, 1954. After the birth of their first son in Summerside, Bruce, Jack and his family were transferred overseas in Nov. 1955. They lived in Belgium, while awaiting PMQ’s in Marville, France, Jack was responsible for maintenance on the Sabre jet. There, their second son Brian was born. Jack and his family travelled Europe while stationed there. After three years, they were stationed to RCAF Trenton in Nov 1958 where their third child, Linda (Sexsmith), was born. While stationed in Trenton, Jack became a world traveller. He worked on the Dakota, North Star, Yukon and Hercules aircraft. He travelled to all continents of the earth other than the Antarctic. He participated in many NATO and United Nations supply missions. He was often away for many months at a time. He always enjoyed sitting in the cockpit when they were on long trips over the oceans of the world but was always happy to get home to his family.
Jack retired from the RCAF in 1970. He continued his career with Field Aviation until he fully retired in 1986. Jack was a very proud member of over 56 years of the Royal Canadian Legion. After retirement he and his wife, Rita, travelled Canada coast to coast, and much of the U.S. including two trips to Alaska which was their favourite. Jack loved hunting, fishing, canoeing and anything outdoors.
In 2020 they built their final home in Madoc, and always said they had the “best neighbours”. In Aug of 2023, Dad moved to Timber Trails Retirement Residence. Jack, Dad, Grandad, and Great Grandad, will be missed by all that knew and loved him. Cremation has taken place and as per Jack’s wishes. There will be a private family service.
